In the first quarter of 2022, the top five social apps in Germany—TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and X—demonstrated diverse trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics.

TikTok experienced a consistent revenue stream, starting from $1.56M in late December 2021 and peaking at $1.64M in early January. Weekly downloads for TikTok showed fluctuations, beginning at around 171K and dipping to approximately 108K by early March. The app maintained a robust active user base, rising from 12.1M to 12.5M throughout the quarter.

Facebook had a relatively stable revenue, ranging between $27K and $46K. Download numbers varied, starting at 96K and reaching a high of 102K in early January, with a slight dip and then a recovery to 91K by the end of March. The active user count for Facebook saw a minor decline from 26.7M to 25.9M over the quarter.

Instagram showed modest revenue figures, peaking at around $2.8K in late January. Downloads for Instagram were fairly consistent, starting at approximately 135K and ending the quarter around 113K. The app's active users remained stable, fluctuating slightly around the 16.2M mark.

Reddit had a slight decline in revenue, peaking at $2.5K in early January and then decreasing to $1.5K by late March. Weekly downloads started at around 58K and saw a drop to roughly 46K towards the end of March. Active users for Reddit exhibited a steady increase, from 1.45M to approximately 1.53M.

X displayed low revenue figures, ranging from $72 to $216 over the quarter. Downloads were relatively stable, starting at 51K and experiencing a peak of 89K in late February before settling at around 48K in late March. Active users for X showed a slight increase from 3.9M to 4M by the end of the quarter.
